OK, gotta love a photographic challenge – trying to shoot a Partial Solar Eclipse with a 150-600 zoom and no filter. My recently purchased Tamron 150-900 has a 95mm filter size and I have yet to find a good solar filter in that size (I realized tonight that a high-stop ND filter might do well for similar situations).
It’s true – if you don’t use a filter the sun will be blown out!
Was able to get this ‘Shark Fin’ image at 600mm and I’ll put it in the ‘artistic’ category with its ‘electric’ blown out sun and intervening high cirrus stacked in low sky perspective!
Got a nice compressed sunset!, even if the last remnant of the eclipse was Obscured By Clouds
